Lasting Powers of Attorney - LPAs
A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is one of the most important legal documents you can make. It allows you to appoint one or more trusted people (your attorneys) to make decisions on your behalf if you are no longer able to do so yourself.
Without an LPA, your loved ones may have to apply to the Court of Protection for authority to manage your affairs if you lose mental capacity. This process can be lengthy, costly and stressful.
For complete protection, we generally recommend putting in place both types of Lasting Power of Attorney.
Health and Welfare LPA
A Health and Welfare LPA allows your attorneys to make decisions about your personal welfare if you lose mental capacity. This may include decisions about:
